[{"fields": {"is_featured": false, "dir_size": 7452, "igdata": "creating a drum loop in project5 welcome to this ignitable on creating drum loops in cakewalk project5. in this tutorial, we will be using version 2.5. let's begin. open project5 and create a new project. this is the main timeline where we will create our drum loop patterns. the first thing we'll do is set the tempo. tempo is measured in beats per minute (bpm), and can be changed at anytime. one way to set the tempo is manually by typing in a number or using the number spinner. some sheet music has the bpm right on the page. if you use a metronome, or have played piano or other instruments, this should look very familiar. 87 means that there are 87 quarter notes being played every minute. you can use the exact same concept in project5 when creating your music. another way is by using "tap". you can click the "tap" button to tap in your tempo. or press the "" key on your keyboard. this is helpful especially while you are listening to a song. you simply tap it to the beat to get the tempo. now that we have our tempo, let's add the drums. right click the gray pane to add a drum kit to your instruments. auto for this example, we'll choose the "rock" kit. select the rock drum kit now we're ready to create a pattern. it's best to drag the pattern pane so you can see what you have available. click anywhere to add the beats you want. notice the individual instruments are listed on the left. we just added a 16th note kick drum. let's change the steps to 1/8 notes. to erase a note, just right click it. let's add the kick drum first... then the snare... some cymbals... if you want to see a larger view of what's happening, you click these arrows, and drag to the right or left... i have a fever... click play to listen to the pattern. ... our pattern was created on the main timeline, so it's ready to be looped. click the edge, and drag it out as many measures as you want... after adding a few other pieces (somewhat randomly), we now have a jungle-like beat... ... notice that when you change the pattern it affects all of the instances on the main timeline. you can also rename patterns in the pattern explorer for easy reference. now you know how to create basic drum loops in project 5! ,,, <br/>", "overdue_email_after": false, "fail_retake": false, "keywords": "Music, MIDI, Project5, Cakewalk, Drum Loops", "fail_action": "", "notification_email": false, "access_token_redemption_count": 0, "completion_type": "", "title": "Creating Drum Loops in Project5", "overdue_email_after_text": null, "encoded_id": "C49sH0p3gS", "is_viewed": true, "overdue_days_email": false, "parent_id": null, "private_views": 0, "fail_email_text": null, "status": "active", "sharing": "public", "description": "The basic steps to creating a drum loop including adding a pattern and changing tempos and beats per measure.
